The Canton DM 1 is a dual component, virtual-surround sound system that is made up of a two channel sound bar and an external subwoofer. Like other canton two-way sound bars, the DM 1 uses an SRS TruSurround XT audio processing algorithm which simply put is a simulation of extra audio channels. High quality components and a dedicated two channel speaker system also make this good at reproducing a true stereo signal, in fact the unit can be switched between stereo(2.1) and surround(5.1) listening modes. On the back of the subwoofer is where you can find multiple connection options including tv/auxiliary analog inputs, SAT and DVD digital/optical inputs, pre-amp and line outputs and speaker terminals to connect the soundbar. The 'sister' unit to the DM 1 is the DM 2 which comes with the same subwoofer, and two satellite speakers instead of the soundbar. It otherwise keeps all of the same features.
